Abstract: Alzheimer’s disease is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder associated with the abnormal self-assembly of the Alzheimer Amyloid-beta (Ab) peptide into fibrillar species. An attractive therapeutic approach to combat amyloid diseases lies in the development of strategies to inhibit or reverse aggregation. In the first part of my talk, I will present molecular dynamics simulations of the early stages of aggregation of the Ab peptide. In the second part, I will discuss simulations of the inhibition of Ab fibrillogenesis by N-methylated peptides homologous to the central hydrophobic core of the Ab peptide.
