Abstract:

The "General Linear Model" (GLM) method of analysis is the most common tool for human brain mapping with functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI). Various forms of the GLM will be outlined, including the pre-processing steps used to prepare the image time series for analysis. Some statistical issues will be raised (but not solved). The goal of this talk is to communicate a feel for the problems involved in interpreting FMRI datasets, which are often glossed over in presentations and papers.
