Abstract: That biology and computation, at a very fundamental level, have been on an interception course has not been news since von Neumann first played with universal constructors in the 1940s. However it took another half century for us to see it happening in the study of the cell biology that inspired it. During this interval, the relative inefficiency in characterizing biomolecular machinery has protected us from the realization that we need a new formal synthesis to represent systems that are complex and non-linear. Interestingly, once this protection was removed and high throughput molecular biology methods flooded our ability to understand the experimental evidence, it took a mere decade for this now obvious introductory paragraph to be considered a lot of talking. Let us move to the coding then. (http://integrativebioinformatics.org/)
